I'm faced with a dilemma of saving every finger proc for the hands, and not DPSing the melee boss down fast enough before his stacks become unmanagable, or falling behind on the hands where I need to very slowly whittle them down, until a second hand shows up before I can even kill the first. I always save my brain freezes for the hands, but getting those are pretty rare as well since I mostly have to rely on instant casts while moving. The hands are extremely difficult to burst down, I assume this is because of the guide's ability to keep one or even two orbs on the field at all times, giving them insane fingers of frost generation at all times, whereas I'm lucky if I have a proc at all to spare. Meanwhile I'm spamming blizzard on cd on the largest amounts of groups I can get, and I still have to wait several seconds after my orb expires before throwing a new one out. The guides I watch use freezing rain, which makes sense, however the videos show the add phases going much smoother, with them being able to consistently keep two orbs out at once - if not keeping the cooldown refreshed just for a single one. My DPS is consistently 200-ish lower than the videos for the first and second phase, with myself falling way further behind in the final few phases especially. And it looks easy! However in practice it all goes horribly wrong. I've read through several guides and watched several of the most recent videos I could find, all claiming the challenge is actually quite easy. But I've been running into some, or rather simply, a lot of trouble on the Frost mage's challenge. Hello all long time player coming back from a bit of a break, I decided to give mage tower a try since I actually never got around to doing it before.
